It's always nicer to do business with real people, so here are the folks invoved in Dead Chicken Hat.

Firstly, there's me, Fay, The Seamstress. I design, cut, sew and finish all the costumes. I have been designing and making clothing since I was about 14, which is arrhhmmm years ago. Let's just say it's over 2/3 of my life (eek!). I've won prizes for my needlework, both national and international. I've even been presented to royalty as the winner of a national competition ('curtsey and say "ma'am" as in ham, not "marm" as in farm'). Next there's the Shipping Department. That's me again. I prepare, pack, ship, check (repair, clean, iron) and organise all the costumes. Finally, there's the Webmistress. Me again. I design, write and update the website. In the odd millisecond when I'm not doing all this I'm Mum to three little girls who appear occasionally on this site. I'm also studying a higher-level course on The History of Fashion and Dress (links to Assignments) and do some voluntary work for Wycliffe Associates. |

Chris is honourary design consultant and good friend. She is chief hem-leveller and idea bouncer-offer. Chris' other main role is to curtail my over-use of frills on Victorian dresses.

Hi I'm Lizzy, I like dancing, sewing, knitting, surfing the net ... so that kind of makes me research assistant and apprentice seamstress. Oh, and I also help as an extra model.:-) That's my Lizzy! Here she is modelling one of our fabulous one-and-a-half circle skirts. She wore this to English Heritage's Festival of History. I was most put out because she had more admiring glances that I did (but then, she is also younger and prettier!) |
